What are the types of terminal tackle?
Terminal tackle is tackle that is fastened to the end of a fishing line and is cast out with the bait. Hooks, leads, floats, sinkers/feeders, swivels and attached snaps and/or split rings are examples of terminal tackle.
Why is it called terminal tackle?
The fishing gear we tie to the end (terminus) of the line to assist it catch fish. While all fishing tackle is called tackle, only the components attached to the line end are referred to as terminal tackle.
