Gaffs

A gaff is a fishing pole with a sharp hook on the end that is used to gaff a huge fish and then lift it into the boat or onto the shore.

The hook should ideally be placed behind the backbone of the fish or in the fish's mouth to lift it into the boat.

Gaffs are used in fishing when the weight of the fish surpasses the breaking point of the fishing line or the fishing pole.
