Pots and Traps

Bait trapping is a non-invasive method of catching fish, shellfish, crabs and cephalopods. Traps provide you some control over the types and sizes of fish you want to catch. The trap entry may control the maximum size of fish collected, while the mesh size allows little fish to escape. Davos Tackle carries a variety of fish traps, including crab traps, opera house traps and drop nets.

The type of fishing trap you require will be determined by the species you wish to capture. Examine their movements, environment, bait preferences, and location to determine which will be the best fishing trap for your application. The size of the entrance and mesh are critical: if the entrance is too large, a larger predator can swim into your trap and eat your intended capture; if the mesh is too big, your desired catch will escape.
